CAN’T MAKE IT LIVE? THE WEBINAR WILL BE RECORDED! All registrants will get the recording link
The first session can be stressful for clients — but also for you as a psychotherapist. You need to listen to a client’s story, build rapport, manage their emotions, yet still do a thorough history-taking, assess for therapy appropriateness, and start a treatment plan. Plus, you must handle all the paperwork and administrative tasks related to payment, insurance, and scheduling. How can you get this all done in one session?? This webinar will help you more confidently and expertly navigate handling these clinical and administrative tasks in that all-important first session. Time permitting, we’ll discuss:
- How to screen clients before the first session
- What forms you should give out, and how to transmit them to clients
- The biggest mistakes you can make in the intake
- The most important clinical and administrative intake issues
- A helpful structure for your first session
- A helpful way to assess new clients
- How to ask about goals, and come up with a quick treatment plan
- What health plans require in your intake documentation
- What to do if an insurance client doesn’t have a diagnosis
- How to ethically negotiate a reduced fee
- Handling common (but difficult) client questions
- What to do if you feel the client is not a “good fit”
FREE DOWNLOADS: As a bonus, you will get two free handouts in addition to the slide handout:
- “The Art of the First Client Contact: 10 Tasks”
- “Checking Coverage: 12 Essential Questions”
