A Personal Note to My Readers

October 8, 2024

Hi everyone,

Today, I wanted to share a personal announcement: I’m stepping back.

As some of you already know, after December 19, 2024, I will no longer be offering one-on-one consultations.

But I’ll still be around. After that date, I plan to continue to present live webinars for psychotherapists about insurance and documentation, and put out these newsletters until June of 2025, when I plan to fully retire. And after June, recordings of my trainings, my book, my Practice Forms Packet, and all my resources will continue to be available for purchase in my online storeat theinsurancemaze.com/store.

Yes, this is a somewhat earlier-than-planned retirement for me. But my hubby has Parkinson’s Disease, which this year began to progress a bit more rapidly. So, it is time to travel together, and to see what kind of international intrigue and scandalous shenanigans we can get into, while we still can.

The silver lining? I’m an atrocious workaholic, so perhaps this is a gift from the Universe, to stop me from working myself into an early grave.

I have had so many mixed feelings about each step I’ve taken toward retirement. When I closed my practice last year after 32 years, that wasn’t easy, but it allowed me more time for the consultation work I loved. For decades I have had the gift of working with awesome therapists across the country, and to be able to help them solve business problems, navigate the insurance maze, and to build more fulfilling practices. What a great feeling. So, it is hard to let go of this rewarding role. What I have learned is that we caregivers need so much support, both practical and emotional, to do the difficult jobs we do.

OK, I already know what you are going to ask: No, there isn’t anyone who will be taking over for me. I wish there was a single person to whom I could hand the baton. And I’m sorry to say that all my remaining consultations have now been taken. But I won’t leave you high and dry! I have put together a referral list so you’ll have resources you can reach out to in the future for practice coaching, billing questions, documentation feedback, audit assistance, and other types of support. That list is now available at theinsurancemaze.com/consultations.

I’ll say more down the line. But for now, thank you for making going to work each day interesting, challenging, and rewarding.
